This new job.

Current Mood:

My second week at this new job has been pretty busy. Tuesday my account was expired so I couldnt do anywork at all. So I sat there in my own large cubicle and did some Sudoku puzzles killing time and hoping that Access and Admin would get a hold of my account so that I could get some work done. Right so that was a bust. Then Wednesday was finally the day where I got to do some real work. The day was so busy. I was running all over the place, answering phone calls and taking care of adding people’s accounts to the system. It’s not even that simple. I had to send an email to the help desk to add people’s account. Not one account but 3 accounts where 1 takes forever to finally get finalized. Actually all 3 takes forever to get finalized. You cant just get an account and expect it to get working within the day.

I’m no longer nervous in answering phone calls. I guess it’s because I dont even think about it anymore. I just pick up and answer and not worry on who’s on the other line. Some people will call for questions that I cant answer so I just transfer their call to my coworkers. So I like the fact that my second week is busy. I’m constantly doing something and not being bored like my first week. I am still learning and constantly being overwhelmed with all these info. I’m still not used to getting up early and having alot of emails to check regarding accounts and what not. Within a month I hope to be used to everything.

I am tempted to do some work-related work at home but really I do that like 40 hours a week. So maybe later. :sly:

Golden Key

Current Mood:

Ryerson sent me a letter stating that I’ve been recognized as one of the top 15% in Computer Science. I guess thats in the entire Computer Science in Ryerson. Thus they are inviting me for this Golden Key International Honor Society. Kinda like an Elite club I guess for geeks and nerds. lol :embarass: Membership is by invitation only. Members have perks like scholarships. They get a personalized Golden Key member card and job opportunities from various companies (like IBM and Scotiabank) who sponsor them. Honeslty there would so many members in this club that even if I tried out for a scholarship, I wouldnt get it. So furthermore, they have a celebration in November if I want attend. Cool, I thought, until I read the brochure… $90 fee… :irked: I thought it was free. I guess all they wanted was my $$… :yuck:

Busy week.

Current Mood:

I’ve been so damn busy this whole week with my full time job and this seasonal job for the Jays. I’m exhausted every night and I’m still not used to this waking up to 7 am routine.. I dont know how long it will take me to get used to it but I am still getting drives from my mom every morning (weekdays) since I cant wake up early enough to take the bus.

So tomorrow I have a day off from the Jays then on Friday I have a day off from my full time job. If only they were on the same day, I would be a happy camper but a day off is a day off. I shouldnt complain. So Friday, I get to see some of my buddies from Ryehigh. I havent seen them since the last day of school back in April. So that should be interesting. Tomorrow I am off to exchange the cellphone that I purchased and I wanna get a new one where I can actually hear the other person on the other line. With this phone I was constantly going, ‘I cant hear you!!!’ lol. :rude: Right so I will pay extra just to get a phone that suits me..

Tomorrow that is…

The first meeting

Current Mood:

I had my first meeting today with the entire group. Entire group meaning, the people in my building plus those all over Canada. This was obviously done through a conference since not everyone can make it here in Toronto. It was 2 hours long but it went by pretty fast. It was odd though since everyone had to introduce everyone in the beginning. My supervisor’s boss was there as well and when we met for the first time, I was pretty intimidated. I believe he knows that people find him intimidating since I heard some people talking how they ran into him and they were pretty surprised that he travelled all the way from Calgary to here. I saw his face when he saw my sudoku puzzle drawn on my whiteboard. :embarass: Yeah it helps me kill time when it’s a slow day at work. Right so back to the meeting, the introductions was weird since I didnt know what to say. There were others who didnt introduce themselves since my boss had missed them. Sneaky people! I didnt really talk since I am new and my role isnt all the big that I had to talk. I didnt ask questions really. I just wanted to take in what happens during these monthly meetings and if/when I’m comfortable, I will ask questions.

So after work, I had to exchange the fish filter that I purchased last Monday. Then I wanted to stop by the store and buy some stuff for my desk. Unfortunately I didnt have my wallet. I panicked trying to remember where I put it. Thankfully, it was in my other jacket afterall. :bubble:

Ha so that’s my boring day….
