December

Current Mood:

We’ve been really lucky here to not get any snow until this morning. When I woke up, I saw snow outside.. Fortunately, it’s not even alot of snow. It’s just a smidge where it’ll melt if you even step on it. Right so I dont know if it’ll snow tomorrow. All I know is that, I dont want snow. I dont care if it’s already December. I cant stand snow.

Anywho, I cant believe it’s already December. Then next thing you know it’ll be 2007… I still havent started my Xmas shopping. I usually do that last minute and have no problem of buying for family. I heard it will be pretty slow at work.. That should be something to look forward to. I am still getting paid so. Also I have a day off on the 22nd. It’s what they call a floater. I dont think I will be getting paid for that so I dont mind it much. As long as I can use that day, to go shopping for gifts and what not.

Nothing much to say I guess.. I have to finish some documentation for work.. Will do that tomorrow.

Ubuntu Linux

I spent the entire day trying to install Ubuntu Linux on my old IBM Aptiva 8 GB computer.. The IBM Aptiva had Windows 98 but since my bro bought a new pc, I can format it and install a new operating system. At first I was going to install Win 98 but my friend suggested to install Linux. At first he said Fedora then he said Ubuntu. He said to use the Server version which I did but there was no GUI on it.. Not very user friendly.. So I install the desktop one and now I have a linux box.. I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jump: i cant believe I formatted a computer all by myself which is something I’ve never done and install a totally differnet o/s. The only thing that drove me crazy is the partitioning.. I didnt know what I was doing so I just used the Erase entire disk partition. I dont plan on putting Windows on this one anyway. So it’s pure Linux and I just hope I wont have to redo this again. The fact that it’s such a slow pc and with so little space, it was so tedioius… But I’m glad it turned out really well. I have so much to learn about this new toy. I have yet to install so many applications for it. I am no longer scared to format desktops… unless it’s mine of course!

Canadian Citizenship test

Current Mood:

Finally took my citizenship test today at 10 45… Before the actual test, the instructors had to talk about procedures and what not. It took so long.. After long hours of studying, I wished I did the test as soon as I sat down but no they had to chit chat and inform us about instructions. It was really annoying. My friend told me that when he took his citizenship test, they told him whether he passed/failed as soon as he handed in the test. But in this case, they didnt. As soon as we finished the test, we handed it in without knowing whether we failed or passed. It doesnt matter really because I dont think I failed.. I’m just glad that I finally got this citizenship thing done and over with. On the other hand, my mom does not think she did so well. We will have to see I guess..

The one thing that I hate about this holiday is the fact that I lose so much money. The spending and buying presents is getting to me. I’m so running low on cash it’s getting so ridiculous.. I wish I dont have to buy anything but I dunno…. I hate shopping for someone else because I dont know what they really want. I dont know if they’ll like it… :slant:

My LCD

Current Mood:

So the Olympus and I were not meant to be together.. But rather my new 17 inch LCD LG monitor and I are meant to be together. I bought her on Xmas eve and I received her from the mail today… ;P She’s pretty.. Although since I’m in front of the monitor almost 24/7, she is too bright.. Will have to change the brightness on her. I loved my CRT. I still love her but CRTS are too bulky.. She was my first flat monitor.. Bulky but flat.. I liked the fact that I only had to press the buttons twice to change the settings from bright to not-so bright. It had a tv, movie, and other setting. Now this one I have yet to find out…

Today work was just as boring as last Friday. No one was there. I wasnt even sure if I was suppose to show up. Literally there was only 12 people in the building. That doesnt even include the security and the 2 building facilities people. 12.. How sad.. I did get a phone call though which was odd.. But oh well.. Tomorrow and Friday will just be as boring.. :bored:

Can your computer run Windows Vista?

Current Mood:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Apparently my lovely desktop is not cool enough for Microsofts’s new OS, Vista… lol I laughed once I found this.. I just bought a new RAM too.. So my desktop graduated from 256 MB to 768 MB. Me so proud.. I was nervous on removing the original RAM just to see if I knew how to put it together but it went ok. So I left the house and bought a 512 MB and installed it. No issues.. No problems.. Then I go here to check if my pc is ready for Bill’s next invention but I failed in 3 categories.. The video card, RAM and free Disk space.. Yes I have 3 GB left but really if and when I do install this Vista, I’m going to want to format my hard drive anyway so I will have enough space.. As for the video card, I’ll fix that last.. ;P Will have to do some research on what I should get. So check it out if you are just as curious, click on the link below.
