Bootlegs

I was off yesterday so I decided to go to the bank and open a Savings account. The interest is pretty low which I dont mind.. I just wanted to open a savings account so that in the future I have some money. I have yet to transfer some funds from Chequing to Savings. I am still unsure how much I want to transfer. Then later on I went to buy some movies. These are unfortunately bootleg movies that they were selling for 7 movies for $20. I questioned the quality of the movies. You know that saying ‘You get what you pay for..’ surely that happened. I ended up buying The Good Shepherd, The Covenant, The Illusionist, The Holiday, Brokeback Mountain and Night at the Museum. I have not seen Brokeback and Night. But the rest were okay. Good Shepherd was the that had closed to good quality in both audio and video. The Covenant was an utter disappointment since there was green bars on the top and bottom. In The Illusionist the audio was horrible. But like I said, you get what you paid for. I also saw ‘The Alpha Dog’ which is not yet out in theaters and already a bootleg is out there somewhere. Thankfully I dont live close to the place where I bought it since I would buy bad quality movies all the time…

I am told, thought I haven’t seen it yet, that The Good Shepherd is a slow moving drama and is loosely based on fact.

I don’t get a chance to see too many movies until they come on the television or are sold in the discount bin. Being in college keeps me quite busy and social events are at a premium. But I do enjoy it so! I know it will be quite worth it!

I don’t think I’d ever pay for bootleg movies, be too worried about getting ripped off. But then, I know how to download and burn them myself and I am not a huge movie buff any way!

Wow. I’ve never actually seen a bootleg movie before. I suppose bootlegs are useful if you just can’t stand not being able to watch a movie. The Good Shepherd was a good movie. :) I had a savings account..but I forgot the pin number for my ATM..blah. :banghead:

It’s great that you have opened a savings account!! As for the bootlegs, it’s true that you get what you pay for because you never know if these movies will be premiered where you live, but sometimes you can get better versions or even the dvd copy with most of the features, unless you don’t care too much for the movie itself and you can be fine with a poor quality copy, I’d advise you to wait for better copies or download it online.

Bootleg DVDs of movies are always so cheap in quality… that I’m afraid to buy them.

Which reminds me of this true FUNNY story… my Mom’s friend bought a pirated DVD of Brokeback Mountain… and apparently, halfway through watching the movie, the movie stopped playing. The DVD disc was defective.
    BROKEback indeed. LOL.

I think it’s good you open up a savings account. It helps you keep track of the money you have and to make sure you have enough for the future. lol.

In my opinion you would be better off to put the money in your savings account instead of spending them on poor quality bootlegs. Congratulations on your new account – get rich!

I have a few bootleg copies of dvd’s. Cars, IceAge2 and Happy Feet, My uncle got them for me, there are all great. I like them really better ebcause I do not have the annoying previews. lol. They just start the movie, Guess you would not call the first 2 bootleg, just ripped from another dvd. lol. Happy Feet was bootlegged though. :jump:

That’s the only thing about bootlegs movie is the gamble you take. Will it work? But how else can you see movie before they hit the big screen.

I have a savings account too, It’s always good to have extra cash at hand unless you spend it on buying movies of course haha! I’ve seen most the movies, they’re pretty good though, but hey 7 movies for $20…bargain!

we went on a bootleg spree once.My dad got upset at the quality and just decided to buy the dvds from then on.
I’ve seen the actual dvd of the illusionist and i must say the audio levels even then we’re uneen. So i can only imagine how it was for you.
Still it is nice to see things before they come out, that way if they suck alltogether you didnt pay to go watch it in theatres.

I hate bottleged movies, they usually come out crappy. I frankly would rather just go see it. Better then wasting my money thats going to end up as total crap right? (Xposure)

Oooh, yay for opening a savings account! Lol, I’m not old enough to do any of that stuff yet…or at least I don’t think I am? I’m not too familiar with banking terms of any sort so I don’t really know the difference, but I guess I will learn that in a couple of months when I go off to college and all of that.

And ooo, that’s a whole lot of movies! I haven’t seen any of those movies, unfortunately. I really want to though. =(

A savings account is always a good idea; I’ve never particularly liked the idea of having all your money in one place – it makes it far easier to spend. Bootleg movies are always a gamble; I’ve seen some fantastic ones, but others have such low quality you can barely watch them. I don’t usually buy them, but I know a lot of people who do; I guess it’s just preferance as to buying them frequently or not. I like the official DVDs so I get all the extra features. xD

Ah yeah, I have bought a bootleg video before. It happened to be Saw when it first came out the very first one and it was shitty as well. But those movies you got are great. Night at the museum is funny, and Brokeback was actually a great movie.

I’ve seen A Night At The Museum, and it actually is quite good for a kids movie. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it. And hopefully it works, since its a bootleg movie.
