While everyone is off buying Vista for their (new) desktops, I installed a secondary hard drive on my machine and loaded Ubuntu Dapper on it. Yes, I decided to move away from the Vista-hype and install linux. I was a bit nervous on connecting the secondary hard drive only because I’ve heard stories that people’s data on the primary hard drive just poofed away! lol Meaning disappeared maybe because they screwed something up. So thankfully mine is still intact. No data loss. No stress. Mind you I did back up my data in case I did lose my Windows XP and also made a Windows XP cd just in case I end up not having any operating system. The downside to linux is the major configuration that I have so that my hardware works. For example, my webcam doesnt work in linux. :irked: Viewing avi videos doesnt work either. :mad: Sucks.. Well I guess I will have to do the multimedia part of my pc in Windows and the developing part in linux (if I want). Also does anyone know a good program to convert flv to avi or mpg?

I havent worked out in a week until tonight. I’m so happy I did. Finally got a chance to do some weights and do the whole treadmill thing. I’m so proud of myself considering how I never work out. Then when I left it started snowing. Apparently we’ll be getting 90 cm of snow. That means alot of people will be late tomorrow because of the snow and the fact that everyone will be driving so slow. So tomorrow is Val Day. Normally I’d get all bitter about it but not this year. I had a chance to have a Valentine and I turned it down for good reasons. Yeah so this year will be the same as any old Valentines Day but the only difference is.. I wont be bitter about it. :grin: So to all those people who have Valentines Day dates, have fun!

No one in my family has ever gotten a cast ever until today. I got a call from my mom at work stating that she wont be able to pick me up since she’s at the hospital. Due to the bad weather conditions in Toronto, my dad who was walking to work, slipped and slammed his wrist on the cement. The sidewalk that he was walking on was not shovelled so he slipped. There was a man who was driving who saw it all happened and offered to take him to the hospital. But luckily the area was just walking distance away from where we lived so my dad just said no and walked back to our house. Then my mom had to take him to the hospital. I’m guessing they were in the hospital for 3+ hours. They didnt get home until around 6:30 to 7 pm. My mom wont be going to work as planned tonight since she didnt get much sleep in the day. Her friends were calling her to see what was up since she normally carpools them to work. My dad came with with a cast on his left arm. He has to keep it that way for 6 weeks. It looks bad.. Like painful bad. I dont know… like I said, none of us has ever had a cast done ever. I’m not sure what to say but I’m glad he is ok. I am still unsure whether he’ll be going to work. One thing I know is that since he’s left-handed he wont be able to write…. :no:
