Google books

So I bought my Philosophy book 2 days ago and I have not heard if it’s been processed or what not. I got the confirmation email but no status on whether they’re in shipping mode etc. Then today I googled around and found that Google books has the full version! First of all, I didnt even know that Google has a Google books. Second, I didnt know my book would be there. I am so sad since I just paid around $27 Canadian on the book and I havent even heard if its going to be shipped soon…. So much for not buying too much books as it is. But really so far I’ve only purchased around $40ish worth of books which is not too bad. One book I found online and others I borrowed or I dont need books.

This week has been an easier week that last week. Thankfully, my mood last week did not continue. I’m in the mood to learn. And slowly going to that school mode again. It was just that monthly visitor.. That’s all it was…

Woah, neither did I know there are Google books. So next time when you buy books, do look around the net for better choice or something. :D

Oh, sheesh! You ordered it but then Google Books had it in full?! Yeowch.

Isn’t it awful when a online store is slow? It drives me up the wall, it does, waiting for status emails.

My week is always astronomically awful when I get that particular monthly visitor. I love it when men try to say you can behave better and be a little nicer, but have THEY ever been in this much pain?

By the way, I don’t know if anyone has ever told you, but Snap previews load RIDICULOUSLY SLOW on old computers. So please be kind to your visitors who have old, slow computers and consider removing them. Really, all they are is cute little thing-of-the-moment baubles. Also, it drives me nuts on a personal level because I hover over urls to see the url, not a preview of the site.

I didn’t know about google books either. hmmmm…interesting, but you sure didn’t spend that much for your books. I think that’s reasonable. I’m glad you got your “school” mood back. It’s kinda hard to start off after a long vacation… ;P

Jeebus, isn’t there anything that Google doesn’t have?

$40 for books? Wow…I think one of my books in college was about twice that price. :bored:

Wow, you’re lucky. Your books only cost around $40!!!! I usually pay between 200-300 depending on the semester and mine are NEVER on google =(

Who knows, maybe you’ll find out that they ran out of stock and couldn’t ship it. Then you’ll save some money!

I know the feeling…I’m in the exact same situation. I’m about a month into my first semester of college..and i still can’t get a hang of it. I just don’t wanna :read:. But failing my history exam woke me up, I think. I’m begining to realize that this is reality and I need to get my shit together.

Oh and where did you get the smilies? I love them!! :freak: :?

Google is taking over the world (literally… I mean, come on, Google EARTH??). I can think of very few things that Google doesn’t have (and by the time I list them off, they’ll be in beta).

Now I know to check Google Books (which I’ve NEVER heard of) before I go shopping. Sorry you couldn’t find that sooner!

Yep, Google Books has been around for since 2004, I think. There was quite a stir in regards to copyright infringment versus the educational impact of such an extensive database of digitized works.

It’s great that you found your book free. Some publishers only allow snippets to be shown and require you to purchase the book. However, I’ve always liked having physical text with me, although e-books are useful too.

Yay philosophy! Boo to monthly visitors. When they visit my female friends, they gripe about them much more vehemently whenever guys like me are around.

    Hey, thanks for the comment.

The grunge layout is for a fan site for a band, not for my personal site. I’m glad you like the layout I have up, though. :)
