I feel like such an ass

Ugh have you ever sent an email that came out so wrong that you wish you could undo it? It just happened to me tonight. I wrote an email to members of a group project and one of the members got so upset that he told me off. He called and ranted on me on why I did that that I should not have written that on the email. The more he explained himself the more I agree on it. A part of me still disagree with him on another issue but he was right that I never should have done that at all. It’s terribly embarrassing. I dont know if I could ever face him tomorrow in school without feeling all weird and guilty about it. I wrote the email after hours of frustration on what he wanted me to do an hour ago. I guess I wanted to make him suffer just as much as he’s made me suffer. I’m pretty vindictive like that. I have learned one thing though.. I could never work with him.. We just clash.. It’s continually annoying.. Sadly I have no choice since I’ll be in class with him for the next year and a half… Ugh this really stinks..

That’s why double-checking electronic messages and media before they’re published is always a good idea. That has never happened to me with an email, but I get in trouble with blog posts sometimes.

I know the feeling. Sometimes you just clash with people and there’s nothing you can do. I just hate that feeling of being stuck in a room with someone like that.

Wow, I wonder what you wrote to the guy!

One thing I agree with in my Interpersonal Communication class is that communication is irreversible. You’ve got to think about how all parties will receive it before you send the message. :nervous:

Good luck for the rest of the year. :banghead:

Hrm… I do believe I’ve sent off an email I wished I’d phrased differently. I think we all have. *lol* Regardless of whether you came off rude in your email, the person who responded was also out of line for ranting the way he did. How did that really improve the situation? *lol* I understand that you feel you were out of line, but this guy could have handled it a bit better as well.

Well, maybe he could have understood that you were really frustrated when you sent this email…

I know how it is to have to deal with classmates you can’t get along with… But somehow it teaches patience :)

I hope when you see him tomorrow he has calmed down. Maybe try telling him that you didn’t mean the email to come out like it did. Hopefully he will understand and you will be able to get the project done.

Oh, group projects… I hate them. I doing one right now and we have one member that doesn’t do anything… well lets be fair, he does work, it’s just not good. This morning we had a group meeting and he didn’t show up, he didn’t call and let us know, and he wouldn’t answer his phone.

Well, I hope everything goes okay with your group and project.

I have said and written things that have came out totally wrong. But what’s done is done. If you guys clash, I’m sure you both need to tell one another the problem. That doesn’t make you a bad person or wrong at all.

It’s been a few days already so I hope everything went alright for you and it’s all sorted out now.

There was a reason why the initial email went out. I don’t think you should allow anyone to tell you how you should express your feelings. They can guide you, yes, but telling you? No. Don’t show any regrets. :freak:

Internet has made it easier for people to say what they want to, even though they normally wouldn’t. Emailing a frustrated response to someone helps, but can make you feel stupid later…always best to wait a few hours before sending.

Hopefully things will blow over. There was a girl in my comp class this semester that drove me insane. Luckily, my semester putting up with her is over (hopefully I won’t meet up with her again), maybe he’ll transfer away? lol you can always hope
