The plan for Winter semester
So here’s the plan for the next semester, sit in the front of the class to prevent distractions from those who site in the back. Well not really the front but more like 2nd or 3rd row. Take notes by hand not computer notes. I admit ever since I bought my first laptop this semester, it’s been difficult to pay attention since I can just go to facebook or hotmail whenever the lectures get real boring. But what I noticed that if I do write down my notes, I tend to pay more attention to the lecture no matter how boring the material is. Of course, I cant say the same thing if I did not have enough sleep the night before. Hence the French Vanilla / Hot chocolate that I would have to purchase 10 minutes before the class will have to do. Also, this would save ink cartridges since I wont have to print as many notes. Only print the necessary ones! :wink: Unless the lectures are basically copy-the-notes-in-the-white/black-board-otherwise-youre-screwed class, then I am writing down the notes in a loose leaf paper, from then on. I also noticed that I’m going to have 2 labs in the next semester, so that should be great since labs are great for extra marks! I did miss labs this semester. I wish we had them in courses like AI. That definitely would have boosted up the midterm. Speaking of which, I only have 2 exams left: AI and some other hard course. It’s exams like this that I wish it was multiple choice in AI. I really could use it. I have about 60+ definitions that I have to memorize by tonight in AI. 
I dont think my brain is big enough for that much information. :banghead:

yeah lectures are DAMN boring.. do you guys have tutorials? cos they make us go to tutorials which is mandatory.

I try to always sit in about the 3rd row so I’ll pay attention more. Even then, it sometimes doesn’t help. I found that if I take notes on loose leaf paper, and then recopy them into a notebook, it really helps learning the information. But I’m also lazy so sometimes they don’t make their way into my notebook

Ohh, hot chocolate only makes me sleepier. :zzz: XD Lol, my parents are thinking of getting me a laptop.. But with the unhealthy amount of time I spend surfing the web, I’m not sure whether it’s a good idea. XD

You should also try taping the lectures that way you can listen to them later in case you missed something or if you got bored writing and still wanted to get on hotmail.

I hope the changes help you pay more attention in class. In most of my classes I always sat in the third row from the front and I always took notes with a pen and paper. It kept me awake. Also, if you have a chair that swivels, I would suggest spinning from side to side. I found that also helped me concentrate for some reason. Good luck on your exams!

When I first started school, I was a year behind, and I was home schooled. Then, when I was supposed to be starting 7th grade, I wanted to go to a public school, so they made me take a placement test, to see if they could put me into 8th grade, where I was supposed to technically be. But when I took it, I tested a high school level, so they just had me skip middle school and go on to high school. I used to figure skate, so I had to be at the rink a lot, so I did half home school and half regular school, like all the other skaters, but I ended up getting 4 years done in two, so, that is how I was supposed to get done at 14. I worked my ass off.

That sounds like a lot of stress! I always thought that taking notes by hand was better personally. I can’t focus well if there’s a computer infront or around me while I’m trying to pay attention to what someone is saying. Good luck with your exams :wink:
