Swine flu

Current Mood:Sick emoticon Sick

So I got the swine flu shot yesterday after work. My arm was sore afterwards which is pretty much normal after getting any flu shot. Unfortunately, today during work, I was not feeling so well. I was moody and had a slight fever. I’m pretty much sure it’s because of that damn shot. I’ve already taken meds for it and I do hope that it goes away by tonight. Nothing like a good rest right?

Speaking of work, it’s been alright so far. I’ve reached my 1 month mark. Kinda crazy. Just a few months ago, I was so depressed and bitching about not finding work. I’m extremely lucky to have found this one even though it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I do plan on moving my way up where I can finally do some serious web development. Right now, I’m trying not to think about the future and to just focus on my job and my projects.

Life has been pretty good. Have a great love life and a great job. It also still has not snowed in here :shy: . Thank goodness. I guess that’s it for now. Sorry I haven’t blogged in ages. It’s not like people visit this site anymore right?

New Wordpress

Current Mood:Nervous emoticon Nervous

I just upgraded my wordpress to 2.7. I like the new look but I didnt really see anything wrong with the previous theme. One of the things that I like is the quick post that appears in the dashboard. There are some things that I’m not sure what their uses are like the ‘Turbo’ at the right top corner. Anyway on a more depressing note, I dont know about you but I’m extremely paranoid that I might not get a job when I graduate in 2009 because of this horrible economy. All these people are losing their jobs that it would be stupid of me to think that theyre willing to hire a newbie. I am just lucky that I have a fall back job when my current one ends at the end of the school in 2009 (it’s contract). But honestly, I am willing to stay in this job even if it’s just part time. I’m going to continue to search for jobs but the only thing that I hate is the interviews and the fixing of the cover letter & resume. :rude: Sucks….

This day and the rest are all boring

Current Mood:Bored emoticon Bored

Alright so already I’m getting sick of this place.. Not the blog but where I currently work. I’m not really sure what it is.. It’s either the uber-smelly manager, the atmosphere or the current project that I’m working on. Clearly, I’m not a fan of my manager. The way she speaks to her employees is totally unacceptable. For example, you dont make a joke of their personal lives when something does not go your way. Let’s keep it professional people! Then the atmosphere… It’s pretty quiet & boring in the dept. When you walk in the hallway, they even play some music to get rid of the silence. In here, no music. The only noise you’ll here is the clicking of the keyboard either from you or your neighbor. So most of the time I browse an online radio and listen to some alternative music. Then the project, I honestly didnt expect to write any C code in this work term. In fact my title specifically says ‘web developer’. Last time I remember, you cant develop web applications in C. I already had to learn Perl and Javascript for the previous project and now I have to brush up on my most hated language? C is a pain hence will drive me to insane mode. I’m honestly looking forward to the last day and my 5-day vacation. Heh.. Only 5 days of vacation. Sadly thats pretty pathetic. Then I’m back to school on the 4th. Ah only 5.5 weeks left!!!

Stupid day

Current Mood:Depressed emoticon Depressed

This is probably a bad way to start the July but I’m really having a shit day so far… Had a bad day at work with a shitty boss. Also found out some horrible news from a guy I know. Ex-friend I could call him. It’s like… As if the day couldnt get any worse. My coworker had a meeting today with 3 other coworkers and my boss. After the meeting, he said that the boss talked alot about me. He said something that the boss will be giving me more work… :banghead: Great.. As if I could handle more pile of work right now. I dont know if I’m being slow with these forms but it’s really annoying how she would talk about me without me being there. I have to know the exact details of what she said which is partly the reason why I am not looking forward to working tomorrow even though it’s a Friday. But I am expecting the worst. So then this friend had to tell me that I’m not the person he’s looking for. I guess he wants a dumbass because he should like me since I’m smart and also good at computers. I really could careless anymore… I just wanna start going back to the routine of working for the Jays. I may be tired when I work there but I at least dont have these stupid problems…

The play

Current Mood:Worried emoticon Worried

This past weekend I went to volunteer to help out for work. The job is to assist low-vision and blind people on filling out a questionnaire for a play. I had to read the questions and fill out whatever their answers are. Three out of the five actors in the play are low-vision so most of the audience was either blind or low-vision. So I had to ask them if they wanted to fill out a questionnaire before and after the play. I didn’t have to pay to watch the play since I was a part of the volunteers. The play was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I wasn’t expected it to be as good as Chicago or any popular plays out there. One of the themes was family structures, relationship between the husband and wife and the role of women in society. One of the questions in the post-questionnaire was asking what the play was all about. All people that I asked said the first 2 themes. I thought the way women was portrayed in the play was the biggest theme in the play. Im surprised nobody mentioned that in their answers for the question. Hmm… I’m pretty disappointed in that. :slant:

My fun Sunday

Current Mood:

Let me write (or type ) the day I got *drunk* :drunk: . On Sunday, we had a mid-season party at my work place. Everyone was suppose to have 2 drink tickets each and of course, for some odd reason, people always end up drinking more than 2 cups of alcohol :shhh: . There were only 3 choices: beer, wine or a vodka slushy. Vodka slushy which containted very little vodka so I didnt see the point of getting that. The first drink was white wine. I’ve never been a fan of red since it’s too strong. Then since I had a really low-tolerance in alcohol, I got typsy (already!) :embarass: . Then with my 2nd wine, I was more typsy then with my 3rd (I stole someone else’s ticket) I was borderline typsy / drunk. I can still remember 100% of what I did though. I did kinda walk all wobbly and 2 of my coworkers had to come with me when I was going home. Luckily I dont drive. But they came with me while I was in the subway & bus. They helped me cross the street and walked me to my block until I got home. Before that, during the party, when drunk I tend to say things that I dont normally say when sober. Even though most of the things I said were pure jokes, I would never say those things. But yeah, I didnt walk straight and I had to pee twice! Then during the bus ride home, I was so close to vomitting in the bus. The world was already spinning and the bus was doing many turns left & right. :bored: My coworkers were praying that I dont vomit. I just continued to drink my friends water bottle which helped alot. Then as soon as I came home (9 pm), I just passed out and slept. 9 pm is too early to sleep by the way. I woke up at 2 am and felt this huge headache and the world was still spinning. The next day, I had a headache but not as bad as the one in 2 am. It was fun though. I had fun though. That was one party I will never forget.

Crazy work day

Current Mood:

Today is worth blogging for. Work was a bit crazy today. As usual because I wasnt working yesterday, I was placed into the outfield non-drinking section today. Basically I dont check as much tickets there because I tend to focus on people not having any alcohol. It does state non-drinking section. I dont understand why people totally miss the sign. :sowhat: The camera guys stand there so one of them is a good look out because he tells me if there are people with beer that I missed. So I told this guy on the front row that he cannot sit here with a beer. I didnt realize he was slow so he got all defensive on me. Stating that I dont have to wait for him to leave when he’s going to leave. I didnt want to take that risk and leave while he’s still there with a beer. If we get caught with a beer in a non-drinking section, we (the entire stadium) would lose our liquor license. I would then get into trouble because I was suppose to keep an eye on that place. So being a slow-minded person that he is, got pissed and started cussing at me. I didnt really take offense at the cursing because he is slow. Finally since he was not moving, I took the beer from him and told him to drink it on the concourse not the seats. He thought I was going to throw it but I told him I wasnt. Why would I be so stupid as to throw $9 worth of beer.. I’m not a beer drinker but I’m not that mean. So I got up there with his beer and a cop was standing there (way before I started talking to this person). He wanted to know what was going on and I told him. Finally the guy came up and I guess felt that he was being “ganged-up” on and stated that I dont have to stand there anymore. I said ‘Well this is my section, I can stand here whenever I want’. He said that he didnt even see me when he sat in the section. I told him ‘You are lucky I am letting you sit there because I know that you dont have tickets here. All I’m asking you is to not have any beer in there’. The cop was also there telling him to be quiet because he was the one who did not follow the rules. Anyway so that was the crazy slow person in my section who felt threatened that I didnt want him to drink his beer in the non-drinking section.

Then today after work while in the subway, I was eating my blizzard and some cute guy in a suit just started talking to me. He asked about my day, whether I work tomorrow, what I did for a living, if I was born here etc.. Then it turns out he’s one of those Mormons who wants to convert you to their religion. He was talking along the lines of ‘Will you allow us to call you or visit you one day?’ I said ‘ Please dont..’ ‘Oh okay. How about if you visit our church?’ ‘Um.. I dont think so.. ‘ ‘Ok will you have a card then?’ ‘Ok .. sure..’ Then he handed me a card with a photo of a Jesus Christ movie. :slant: I’m a Catholic so it’s not like I dont believe in God.. I just dont go to church every Sunday. Call me a bad Catholic person… But you cant judge me. Only He can…. :shy:

Ugh 2 essays…

Current Mood:

Ugh it turns out I have to write 2 essays for this 12 month internship. Basically the essays are about what I’ve learned, challenges and all that. But I forgot to do the first one so I’m already screwed. I have to finish it by this week. I dont wanna have to handle it anymore. The problem is I dont know what to write in the 2nd essay since they are both the same topics.. Same “what i’ve learned and challenges”. Not a good way to start the week. On a happier note, I’ll be going to the game on Thursday paid for by the company. lol We’ll be watching in the restaurant which is a first for me since I’ve never been there. Let’s just hope that they dont show us in the jumbotron. :embarass: My coworker might not be going because she wasnt added to the invitation list. I had asked her if she liked baseball and she said ‘I dont like baseball and I dont wanna watch either’. So I guess she answered the question, “Do you wanna watch a baseball game?” Lol. Then when she found out that we’re all going, she was like “I wasnt invited..” Well duh! That’s because you didnt wanna watch! lol People are so strange. I guess free tickets is good enough to convince a person that they wanna go to a baseball game.

The chaos has already started.

Current Mood:

Our company is so behind in technology compared to the rest of society that we’re just starting to install service pack 2 for XP. Everyone has either have it or started installing Vista yet here we are still doing the sp2 upgrade. The chaos has already started. Tickets have started to come in. It’s crazy really. We tried to do one ticket about sp2 today and it took us 1.5 hours. He was sorta my guinea pig since I tried out so many different things until we got to “plan C”. It was basically a trial & error sorta thing. Next week is going to be chaotic due to new tickets about sp2. So thats that.

I went to visit my former job yesterday. Basically this was when I used to do retail. The assistant manager there said that if I do need to come back in the fall, I can apply again and maybe get hired. That’s good since I wont have 2 jobs then… After Blue Jays, I will have 0 jobs so maybe applying there might not be so bad. I just dont like the politics, the thing about sucking up to customer on how much they look good in their clothes even though they dont and the ‘goal’ concept. :slant: Oh well. The only good thing is the discount which is half price. But first I wanna get a job from school which I know pays alot more than retail. We’ll see..

Not your rebound girl

Current Mood:

Ugh I’m probably gonna get some lecture tomorrow from work or something. Just because today I was feeling lazy.. Just because I (kinda) didnt do my job properly today.. I wont get fired though. I havent actually heard them fire anyone for what I did. So I didnt check the fans if they were ok from the foul ball. So I didnt clear the people out and told them to stay behind the yellow line. Go ahead and complain. Bleh. We went an extra inning. I was getting tired ok? :slant: Horrible excuse I know. But really what is 1 out of 81 games of NOT doing your job going to do. It’s worse if it becomes a habit which I wont let it happen. I just hope that I wont be in the same section tomorrow as the people will be giving me a dirty look coz I wont be doing a good job just like today.

It’s funny how some guys just keep coming back to me (except for one). They dump me for someone better then a few weeks/months later, they always end up coming back. I dont want to sound cocky and all but it’s true. This particular guy ditched me coz I lived far away from him as oppose to the girl he met who lived in his area. Now it turns out he dumped her coz she got all paranoid. Now he’s come crawling back to me asking me if we can talk in msn again. :irked: Ha! He wishes. There was a reason I deleted him off there because he ditched me and thank God I havent added him since. I dont want to be anyone’s second prize. Nor do I want to be anyone’s rebound girl. I dont need that bullshit.

The latest

Current Mood:

Well to start things off, I’m going to be staying another 4 months with Exxon. My supervisor kindly offered me to stay and I had a few days to think about it. Not enough days so I had to decide asap. After alot of thought, I said yes. It’s not like there was other interviews waiting for me anyway. I like the environment, the group is great and it wont be busy in the summer so it shouldnt be that bad. So that was that. ;P

I attended the Blue Jays orientation today for the 2007 season. So I’ll be having a full-time job and part-time. Dont ask how I’m going to juggle this but let’s just say I’m going to be so tired. My mother doesnt think I can handle it but I’ve already signed up before I was offered to stay in my full-time job so I cant back out now. I would feel really bad if I did. But I did tell her that if I find that I cant handle it, I will quit. My body can only do so much you know? Not to mention that I wont be having alot of sleep with 2 jobs on hand. So today in the orientation, I was in the winning team again. Got 2 Tshirts and a coffee cup. The shirts are black and white so that should be good. I got a shirt last year but it was XL and I gave it to my dad but he’s not even an XL so I dont know where it went. I also got a beer mug last year.

Nothing really much is going on but that. So toodles… :love1:

My LCD

Current Mood:

So the Olympus and I were not meant to be together.. But rather my new 17 inch LCD LG monitor and I are meant to be together. I bought her on Xmas eve and I received her from the mail today… ;P She’s pretty.. Although since I’m in front of the monitor almost 24/7, she is too bright.. Will have to change the brightness on her. I loved my CRT. I still love her but CRTS are too bulky.. She was my first flat monitor.. Bulky but flat.. I liked the fact that I only had to press the buttons twice to change the settings from bright to not-so bright. It had a tv, movie, and other setting. Now this one I have yet to find out…

Today work was just as boring as last Friday. No one was there. I wasnt even sure if I was suppose to show up. Literally there was only 12 people in the building. That doesnt even include the security and the 2 building facilities people. 12.. How sad.. I did get a phone call though which was odd.. But oh well.. Tomorrow and Friday will just be as boring.. :bored:

Busy week.

Current Mood:

ARgh this whole entire week has been one of the busiest at work.. It sucks but this week went by pretty fast so that was one great thing about it. Today was really quiet since alot of people didnt show up to work or left early because it is Friday. Lucky. I wish I could just decide to skip work just like that. But no.. I’m an intern what can I do? Already by next week it’s December. It is going to be so quiet since more people will be going on vacation. I dont get vacations though so I heard. I’m only off on Dec 25, 26 and Jan 1. Weekends I’m off too but that doesnt really count. I hope next week wont be so busy…

The first meeting

Current Mood:

I had my first meeting today with the entire group. Entire group meaning, the people in my building plus those all over Canada. This was obviously done through a conference since not everyone can make it here in Toronto. It was 2 hours long but it went by pretty fast. It was odd though since everyone had to introduce everyone in the beginning. My supervisor’s boss was there as well and when we met for the first time, I was pretty intimidated. I believe he knows that people find him intimidating since I heard some people talking how they ran into him and they were pretty surprised that he travelled all the way from Calgary to here. I saw his face when he saw my sudoku puzzle drawn on my whiteboard. :embarass: Yeah it helps me kill time when it’s a slow day at work. Right so back to the meeting, the introductions was weird since I didnt know what to say. There were others who didnt introduce themselves since my boss had missed them. Sneaky people! I didnt really talk since I am new and my role isnt all the big that I had to talk. I didnt ask questions really. I just wanted to take in what happens during these monthly meetings and if/when I’m comfortable, I will ask questions.

So after work, I had to exchange the fish filter that I purchased last Monday. Then I wanted to stop by the store and buy some stuff for my desk. Unfortunately I didnt have my wallet. I panicked trying to remember where I put it. Thankfully, it was in my other jacket afterall. :bubble:

Ha so that’s my boring day….

This new job.

Current Mood:

My second week at this new job has been pretty busy. Tuesday my account was expired so I couldnt do anywork at all. So I sat there in my own large cubicle and did some Sudoku puzzles killing time and hoping that Access and Admin would get a hold of my account so that I could get some work done. Right so that was a bust. Then Wednesday was finally the day where I got to do some real work. The day was so busy. I was running all over the place, answering phone calls and taking care of adding people’s accounts to the system. It’s not even that simple. I had to send an email to the help desk to add people’s account. Not one account but 3 accounts where 1 takes forever to finally get finalized. Actually all 3 takes forever to get finalized. You cant just get an account and expect it to get working within the day.

I’m no longer nervous in answering phone calls. I guess it’s because I dont even think about it anymore. I just pick up and answer and not worry on who’s on the other line. Some people will call for questions that I cant answer so I just transfer their call to my coworkers. So I like the fact that my second week is busy. I’m constantly doing something and not being bored like my first week. I am still learning and constantly being overwhelmed with all these info. I’m still not used to getting up early and having alot of emails to check regarding accounts and what not. Within a month I hope to be used to everything.

I am tempted to do some work-related work at home but really I do that like 40 hours a week. So maybe later. :sly:

First day

Current Mood:

So I started my first day as a desktop analyst. And I dont finish at 3 but 5.. Pretty disappointing since I wanted to finish at 3 for my Blue Jays job. I guess I will have to quit that. I dont think I can give 2 weeks notice.. Sucks but I guess I have no choice. I do hope to come back next season though. So that was today. It was alright. It was a long day. I was tired and bored but that is just the beginning. I will get used to it soon. I Hope. Give me a month? lol Apparently I will have to get something to do since there will be times where I will be bored. I dont know what to get yet. Maybe a book or a magazine.

Went shopping today after work. I needed to buy a new pair of walking shoes for work. When I get comfortable, I will leave them at work and wear flip flops to work.. Ghetto but I dont care as long as my feet doesnt start hurting. I get my own cubicle and computer with internet access… My own phone as well. I’ve never had my own cubicle ever.. It’s a pretty big one at that. There’s a possibility that I’ll get lonely. I guess when I’m comfortable, I’ll decorate it lol. I dont like how the computer chair is facing the back of the cubicle door so I wont know who’s behind me looking at my desktop when I’m doing my job. lol. Oh well…

Right so back to shopping, I went to buy 2 new tops and a pair of flats for work. I also bought a new bra.. Argh.. Vanessa has a bigger set of twins.. :embarass: I wont say the size but they grew.. So next topic, I’ve been busy with work that I have forgotten to watch this dvd that I rent out.. Hostel. I hope I dont get a huge fine for returning it late. Also saw World Trade Center with a friend. That was ok. I didnt cry like I thought I would but the rest of the theater did. :slant: I guess thats it.. It’ll be a while for me to get used to this going to work instead of school routine.. ;P
